How do you handle major MySQL version upgrades, for example 8.0 → 8.4 LTS?
As a rehearsed project, in four stages: a pre-upgrade audit against the documented incompatible changes, a staged dry run on a production-shaped copy, execution in your maintenance window, and post-upgrade validation. Oracle does not support skipping an LTS series, so 8.4 is the mandatory stepping stone from 8.0 to 9.7 LTS. For multi-terabyte estates we parallelise the bulk load with data chunking, run change data capture to keep source and target in sync through the live phase, and write the rollback plan before the cutover plan. Cutover happens behind a proxy so it can be reversed in seconds. Razorpay migrated with zero downtime and gained 10× scalability headroom this way.
Do you handle migrations from Oracle or SQL Server?
